Family portraits, individual portraits, documentary photography, creative photography, and corporate photography
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
My name is Iain Scott, and I am a photographer based in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
I engaged in photography as a hobby while I worked as an editorial journalist for more than 20 years. Finally, an intense desire to pursue my interest more seriously led me to leave journalism and study the subject full time.
I qualified with a diploma in photographic imaging at the School of Photography, Art & Design at UCOL in Palmerston North, New Zealand, where I received the CR Kennedy Award as the top graduate of my year. I continue to learn all the time, partly through experience, and partly through short courses.
My journalism years taught me the value of communication, and that’s something I carry with me as a photographer. I am fascinated with the power of a well crafted photograph to say so much without words. While I enjoy creating all kinds of portraits, from casual to formal, I especially love making photographs that communicate something about my clients’ character, personality, and relationships. That’s because our lasting memories are about who people are, not just what they look like.
I try to put this philosophy into practice in all my portraiture, from corporate photographs to family portraits, but it is especially evident in my flagship service, a documentary family photography offering I call “A Day in Our Life”.
I’m happy to chat
If you have any questions that aren’t answered on my website, I’m only too happy to chat about your needs. I believe a client and photographer should make a good fit, because we work together to produce memorable photographs, so I make a point of not engaging in hard selling or putting pressure on anyone to engage me as your photographer. Please feel free to contact me.
